I have a dream(나에게는 꿈이 있습니다)

▣ I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal."

나에게는 꿈이 있습니다, 언젠가 이 나라가 일어나 다음과 같은 신조의 참뜻을 실현할 것이라는 꿈이 있습니다. “모든 인간이 평등하게 창조되었다는 것을 우리는 자명한 진리로 여긴다”라는 신조 말입니다.

 

 

▣ I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

나에게는 꿈이 있습니다, 언젠가 조지아의 붉은 언덕 위에, 노예의 후손들과 노예주인의 후손들이 형제애의 식탁 앞에 함께 앉을 수 있으리라는 꿈이 있습니다.

 

 

▣ I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

나에게는 꿈이 있습니다, 언젠가 미시시피 주가, 불의와 압제의 열기로 뜨거운 그 사막 같은 주가, 자유와 정의의 오아시스로 변화될 것이라는 꿈이 있습니다.

 

 

▣ I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of skin but by the content of their character.

나에게는 꿈이 있습니다, 언젠가는 나의 네 아이들이, 그들의 피부색이 아니라 그들의 인격의 내용에 의해 평가받는, 그런 나라에서 살게 될 것이라는 꿈이 있습니다.

 

 

▣ I have a dream today. I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose government's lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black *boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers.

오늘 나에게는 꿈이 있습니다, 언젠가는 알라바마주가, 연방정부간섭 배제주의와 주내 연방법 효력 거부라는 단어들로 주정부의 입술이 지금 흠뻑 젖어 있는 이 주가, 어린 흑인 소년 소녀들이 형제자매로서, 어린 백인 소년 소녀들과 손을 잡고, 함께 걸을 수 있는 곳으로 변화될 것이라는 꿈이 있습니다.

 

 

▣ I have a dream today. I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plains, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

오늘 나에게는 꿈이 있습니다, 언젠가는 모든 골짜기가 높아지고, 모든 언덕과 산이 낮아지고, 울퉁불퉁한 곳이 평지가 되며, 굽은 곳이 곧아지고, 하느님의 영광이 드러나, 모든 인간이 함께 그것을 목격하게 될 것이라는 꿈이 있습니다.

 

▣ This is our hope. This is the faith with which I return to the South. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood.

이것이 우리의 희망입니다. 이것이 내가 남부로 돌아갈 때 가지고 갈 믿음입니다. 이 믿음으로 우리는, 절망의 산을 깎아 희망의 바위를 만들 수 있을 것입니다. 이 믿음으로 우리는, 우리나라의 소란스런 불협화음을 아름다운 형제애의 교향곡으로 바꿀 수 있을 것입니다.

 

 

▣ With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

이 믿음으로 우리는, 함께 일하고, 함께 기도하고, 함께 투쟁하고, 함께 감옥에 가고, 함께 자유를 옹호할 수 있을 것입니다. 언젠가는 우리가 자유를 얻으리라는 것을 알기 때문입니다.
